All Florida, All Year

Local Roots: Farm to Restaurant Distribution grew out of one woman’s desire to introduce local food systems to Florida. Founded in 2011 by Emily Rankin, Local Roots is an active local food distributor, working with 65 local food producers and more than 50 ingredient-focused restaurants and markets throughout Florida.

We’re launching our Credibles program because Local Roots: Farm to Restaurant Distribution is ready to grow the Florida local food network to the next level. The demand for high quality fresh local food is on the rise and we are now operating at a level that requires a second truck and a the creation of a physical food hub so that more Florida farmers can deliver their products to market.

A viable Local Food Hub will allow Local Roots to expand and introduce our local food system to more communities by allowing us to aggregate, store, and distribute local food from across the state of Florida. We’ve reached storage capacity for distribution at our Farm Store, but our Food Hub will allows us reach out to new clients, most notably small schools seeking local foods supplementation.

You can support Florida’s budding Local Foods movement by purchasing Grocery Plans and edible credits through Credibles. Your investment in us through Credibles directly connects you to the Florida’s local food economy and saves you money in the process!

Our story

Local Roots: Farm to Restaurant Distribution was founded by Emily Rankin. She has been working excitedly to rebuild the Florida local food system for the last 8 years. In 2007 she started the Audubon Park Community Market, creating both a market for local farmers to get fair value for their naturally grown products and an access point for the community to find locally grown food. In 2011 Emily founded Local Roots: Farm to Restaurant Distribution and in 2013 opened the Local Roots: Farm Store in the East End Market. In 2014 Emily continued her Local Foods advocacy by co-organizing the first annual Florida Local Food Summit.
