Mandela Foods Cooperative is a worker-owned grocery store in West Oakland, CA that fosters economic empowerment and community health.
We offer sustainably grown produce, high quality foods, and local goods, seven days a week.
Our doors opened in June of 2009 after several years of community organizing around access to healthy food in West Oakland. A small group of women demanded access to fresh produce and healthy foods, which seeded a vision that we are growing to fulfill.
With more funding we hope to upgrade our Point of Sales system, increase and diversify the stock in our store to meet customer demand, and get the word out through increased marketing efforts about all the great products and services offered at Mandela Foods Cooperative.
